Launched in May of 2007, illumigarden has quickly established itself as the premiere provider of landscape lighting fixtures, design, and environmentally friendly LED lighting in the Bay Area. illumigarden is now proud to announce the opening of a second showroom in Marin County, located in the former Smith & Hawken flagship store in downtown Mill Valley, and the opening of the Outdoor Design Center at IDS in the Tam junction area of Mill Valley. The design center partners will include Palm Island Nursery (exotic plants and materials); Wheeler Zamaroni (landscape supplies and stone fabrication); Toro (irrigation and water management systems); LMNO Arts (metal fabrication and architectural elements); Visual Scapes (masonry construction); Standards of Excellence (outdoor kitchens and appliances); Modern Shed (modular buildings); IDS (architecture, design and build) and illumigarden (landscape lighting design and distributor). The outdoor design center will be open to everyone and will host monthly seminars on landscape design, sustainability, and green building practices. illumigarden invites you to come celebrate the grand openings of both venues with a weekend extravaganza beginning Friday March 28, 2008.

The weekend celebration kicks off in Downtown Mill Valley with a cocktail reception and lecture by renowned artist, designer and photographer George Gruel. Mr. Gruel has spent the past decade perfecting the use of digital technology in landscape lighting photography, and his lecture, “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark”, will provide a primer on basic nighttime photographic techniques. Mr. Gruel’s work from the famed “Light as Art” tour will be on display and available for purchase.

The fun continues on Saturday, March 29, when illumigarden welcomes world renowned, award winning designer and author, Janet Lennox Moyer. Mrs. Moyer is an internationally acclaimed lighting designer who, for the past 25 years, has specialized in outdoor landscape lighting. Ms. Moyer’s first book, “The Landscape Lighting Book”, has won numerous awards and is now in its second printing. illumigarden is honored to unveil Ms. Moyer’s latest book, “She Paints With Light”. Pre-release sales and autographs will be available.

In Mrs. Moyer’s lecture, she will detail her approach to landscape lighting, integrating safety and security issues into a cohesive, aesthetic composition for viewing and enjoying your gardens. Ms. Moyer will provide a wealth of both design and technical information from her extensive background and experience.
